What is a Backup Booking?

Last updated November 11, 2024

If your booking request requires Host approval, a backup booking lets you select a second room option while your first choice is pending. It's our way of helping you secure housing with confidence.

How It Works:

  1. Select a primary room
  2. Choose a backup room with a different host
  3. Set your move-in dates (at least 48 hours apart)
  4. Track both requests on your Dashboard

Important Details About Backup Bookings

  • Room Availability: Backup bookings are not held exclusively for you. This means other Members may still book your backup room while your primary booking is pending.
  • Payment Processing: No payment hold is placed on your card for the backup room unless the first request is rejected.
  • Backup Booking Expiration: If another Member books the backup room before your primary request is declined, we’ll notify you by email, and your Member Dashboard will update accordingly.

What Happens if Your Primary Booking is Declined? If your first booking request is rejected by the Host, PadSplit will activate your backup booking. We’ll notify you by email and update your Dashboard with the new booking.

  • Instant Book Rooms: If the backup room offers Instant Booking and is available, we’ll automatically complete your reservation.
  • Approval Required: If the backup room requires Host approval, your booking request will be sent to the Host and we’ll hold the room amount on your card.
