Explore how Craig found affordable housing, a shortened commute, and unexpected friendships after relocating.

In 2022, Craig relocated to Houston from Southern California due to his father’s job transfer. As an early adopter of Houston’s burgeoning appeal, Craig embraced the city’s opportunities and settled into the vibrant local scene. Working in the leasing industry, Craig was familiar with the challenges of finding suitable housing in a new city. He was searching for a flexible, cost-effective solution for his new lifestyle.

Discovering the perfect fit: PadSplit

Craig’s search for housing led him to PadSplit, and he quickly realized it was the ideal solution for his needs. “PadSplit was perfect because it’s close to my job, and I didn’t have to commit to a year-long lease,” he explains. Traditional apartments came with long-term commitments and high costs, which didn’t fit Craig’s new situation. PadSplit offered a refreshing alternative with its flexible leases and fully furnished rooms. “It offered more privacy and a homier feel than an apartment,” Craig adds, highlighting the comfort and convenience PadSplit provided.

A game-changing commute

One of the standout benefits of PadSplit for Craig was the dramatic reduction in his daily commute. Previously, he endured a grueling 35-40-minute drive each way, which was a significant source of stress. “The drive was going to break me,” he admits. Since moving into his PadSplit home, he now enjoys a quick five-minute commute. “Now, it’s just five minutes to work and back, which is amazing,” he says, clearly relieved by the newfound convenience.

Unexpected friendships and a sense of home

Initially skeptical about living with roommates, Craig was pleasantly surprised by the experience. “I was super skeptical at first, but one of my Padmates has become one of my best friends,” he shares. Living in shared spaces, such as the kitchen and laundry room, fostered a sense of community Craig had not anticipated.

His favorite place to unwind and connect with others is the back patio, which has become a welcoming spot for relaxation and conversation. “It feels like home now. I know everyone, and it’s very welcoming,” Craig says, appreciating the homey atmosphere PadSplit has provided.

Craig also appreciates his host’s responsiveness. “My host is very reachable and has helped with various issues, from maintenance problems to ensuring our trash is picked up,” he says.

Financial benefits: affordability and convenience

Craig also values the financial benefits of living in a PadSplit. “It’s super affordable. All utilities are included, and it’s fully furnished, which you don’t get with most apartments,” he explains. For around $700 a month, Craig enjoys the convenience of having all utilities—electricity, water, internet—and furniture covered. This price sharply contrasts with the cost of a one-bedroom apartment, which typically costs $1,713 plus additional expenses for utilities and furnishings.

Strong recommendations and future plans

Craig is enthusiastic about recommending PadSplit to others. “It’s saving me money, and my room feels like home. It’s my comfort zone now,” he says. He plans to remain with PadSplit as long as he works in the area, recognizing it as a great alternative to expensive, extended-stay hotels. “If more people knew about PadSplit, they’d see what a great option it is,” he concludes.

Craig’s story highlights how PadSplit can transform the living experience, offering financial benefits and a strong sense of community. For those seeking affordable and flexible housing solutions, PadSplit provides a compelling alternative that makes life in a new city more manageable and enjoyable.
