Originally from Northern California, Heaven made the difficult decision to uproot her life and move to Georgia in search of employment. She was ready for a new season after struggling to afford to live on the West Coast. The economic struggles back home propelled her towards a new beginning in the Peach State. Unfortunately, she failed to find affordable housing in Atlanta and resorted to living in her car.

A friend told Heaven about PadSplit, which allowed her to quickly move into a room for $188 a week. Recalling her past experiences of homelessness and living out of her car, she found solace and support in PadSplit—a beacon of hope in her darkest hour.

“As a woman, PadSplit lifted my fear of being homeless, trying to make it, and finding a place to sleep. As women, we always have to worry about our safety and what can happen to us. PadSplit is helping other women out there who are going through it in life,” says Heaven.

Heaven works as a customer service representative at the airport. She ensures the smooth operation of flights, reflecting her dedication to her job and her aspirations for a stable career path.

“I never thought I’d be in a PadSplit, but I found myself here for a reason,” Heaven reflects. She acknowledges the serendipitous turn of events that led her to her newfound home.

Amidst the challenges of shared living and diverse personalities, Heaven finds comfort in the knowledge that she no longer has to endure the uncertainty of homelessness. PadSplit has provided her with an affordable place to stay and also empowered her to reclaim her sense of independence.

For Heaven, PadSplit represents more than just a temporary residence—it embodies a lifeline for individuals grappling with housing insecurity. With the flexibility to pursue her long-term goals without the constraints of a traditional lease, she envisions a future where she can save diligently for her own place—a testament to her unwavering determination and resilience.

Heaven now saves 30-50% on rent compared to if she were living in an apartment. She also feels like she’s getting a fair rate instead of getting “ripped off” by local motels. She feels PadSplit provides the flexibility to allow individuals to determine what their next step is in life without the constraints of a long-term contract.
