Why co-living is so popular & why it should matter to you

April 06, 2023

If you’re just being introduced to PadSplit, our business is based on the concept of co-living. In IKEA’s Life at Home Report, statistics show that 67% of people living in a communal space experienced a positive impact on their mental well-being due to strong community connections.

The PadSplit mission

Our mission is to help solve the affordable housing crisis, one room at a time. And we’ve seen amazing success—since 2017, we’ve placed low-income working community members in comfortable, upscale communal homes. This win-win method provides members with:

  • Affordable rent so they can focus on their financial independence
  • Convenience and proximity to their jobs so they can work and live in the community
  • The ability to build credit through affordable monthly payments
  • No large deposits upfront

Co-living is a simple, safe solution to the lack of available housing. PadSplit gives people who work in the community an opportunity to live in it, too. Plus, our team of experts handle disputes and fill vacant rooms so members feel heard and respected along the way.

Benefits for property owners

If you’re a host, turning your home into a co-living PadSplit property has plenty of benefits for you, as well. Housing multiple people at a cheaper rate can be far more lucrative than renting a single-family home at one higher price. With multiple renters, you also won’t feel frantic or stressed to quickly fill a vacant room if you have other sources of passive income coming in. Plus, you’re housing community members in need, so it’s a win-win all around.
